2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz tech issues

I just upgraded from my 2021 Santa Cruz to a 2024 model, and I'm honestly a bit frustrated. The dash has been redesigned, and I miss the old cluster layout—no more permanent digital speedo in the center, and the estimated MPG is now tucked behind a screen option. The split infotainment screen no longer lets me see the map and radio together, and the radio info is now cramped in the corner.

The bigger issue is the new driver attention system. The "facial recognition" eye was blocking cruise control every time I wore my sunglasses. It would turn on for a few seconds and then immediately say my face wasn't visible, cutting off the cruise. Dealer hadn't seen this before and basically told me to take off my sunglasses to use cruise control.

Oh the daw system. Hate it with every cell of my body because I'd like to use the cruise control, but the car doesn't want me to. Read that sunglasses are a problem because the camera can't see your eye, blink rate and stuff like that. I guess all the tech in newer cars comes with some drawbacks.

Totally get your frustration. Losing the central speedo and split-screen map/radio setup is a real downgrade in usability. Hiding MPG info behind menus doesnt help either. But the worst is the driver attention system, cruise control cutting out because of sunglasses is ridiculous, and being told to just take them off isn't a real solution. Definitely feels like a step backward from the 2021 model.
