Santa Cruz totaled after wild accident

It's been almost a month since I got into a wild accident while driving through West Virginia with my '22 Santa Cruz. I got caught in a rock slide. A boulder slammed into the rear of my truck, I spun around a few times (at least that's how it felt) before hitting a tree on the other side. The damage was extensive but honestly I thought it could have been way worse considering the location. Thankfully I'm just dealing with a sore neck and shoulder but I can't really tell how bad the impact was because the side airbags didn't deploy. My truck is now totaled. While a part of me is thankful my truck held up generally well in such a crazy situation, I'm on the fence about replacing it with another Santa Cruz. Has anyone else here had their Santa Cruz been in a similarly rough situation? How did your truck fare and would you still choose Santa Cruz after what happened? I'm trying to weigh options here.

Glad youre okay after such accident. That’s rough about your Santa Cruz being totaled. From what I’ve seen the santa cruz holds up pretty well in crashes but every situations diferent. If you liked how it handled and the features it could still be a good choice. Definitely test drive others and compare before deciding

It's hard to give something definitive but I think the fact that you walked away with relatively minor injuries is a strong indicator of your truck's structural integrity!
The side airbag deployment, though, is a valid concern so I think it's worth discussing with your insurance or Hyundai directly, especially if you decide to go with another Santa Cruz.
If you want to explore other options, I'd say Ford Maverick is its nearest competitor.

That's a wild story! It's totally fair to be on the fence about another Santa Cruz. While it clearly absorbed a massive impact, that feeling of 'what if the airbags should have gone off?' is tough to shake.
